Day 1:
Royal Ascot 2019 commences on Tuesday 18th June with three top quality Group 1 races The Queen Ann, The Kings Stand and the St James’s Palace Stakes. Back in 2011 it was the great Frankel who got the crowd roaring with his win in the St James’s Palace Stakes and a year later in the Queen Anne Stakes, Frankel blew the field away winning the race by eleven lengths!
Day 2:
Wednesday 19th is enjoyed by regular racegoers as more relaxed day for socilising and has only the one Group 1 race the Prince of Wales Stakes for fillies (female horses) and mares (male horses) with prize money totaling £525,000 being presented to the race winner.
Day 3:
Thursday 20th is known as ‘Ladies’ Day,’ steeped in history, high fashion and one of the premier days of the week long Royal Ascot Festival. Ladies Day also features one of Royal Ascot’s oldest races, The Gold Cup which was first run over 200 years ago in 1807. Ladies Day also sees the opening of the Village Enclosure which will be the place to be seen in. With it’s up market dining, cocktail bars and live music throughout the day till 9pm in the evening.
Day 4:
Friday 21st is all set to be a cracking day for the sprinters with two Group 1 races, the Commonwealth Cup over 6 Furlongs and the Coronation Stakes at a mile in length. With Aidan O’Brien looking to be one of the key trainers of the day and a strong American presence, Friday 21st is going to be one of the standout days of the Ascot Festival….
Day 5:
Saturday 22nd although this is the last day of this year’s Royal Ascot Festival, it is none the less entertaining and includes the ever popular Wokingham Stakes, the Diamond Jubilee Stakes (Group 1) famously won in 2012 by Black Caviar and the longest race of the festival The Queen Alexander Stakes ran over 2 miles and 6 furlongs.
