With just over a week to go this year’s Investec Epsom Derby is fast approaching when 50,000 plus race goers will descend on the racecourse situated just outside the market town of Epsom.

The first day of the Derby Festival, Friday 1st June being a celebration of both fantastic horseracing, including two Group 1 horseraces. The Investec Coronation Cup and the feature race of the day the Investec Oaks for 3 year old fillies. Last year’s race was won by amazing Enable., a winner of the Irish Oaks, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, Yorkshire Oaks and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

While away from the horseracing the main attraction for the race goers will be the much celebrated annual style award. Which is presented to the Best Dressed Lady, which this year will be judged by Vogue in association with fashion house Chi Chi London. Ladies day will conclude with an after race party.

Saturday 2nd June is the Investec Derby Day, with the main gates opening at 11.00 am in the morning and the first of the seven races of the day starting at 2.00 pm in the afternoon. There is plenty of time to soak up the atmosphere of one horseracing’s most special days.

The Investec Derby is a sprint, raced over a distance of 1 mile and 4 furlongs (a furlong being the equivalent of one eighth of a mile). With the winner taking home £1.5 million pounds, The Derby is one of UK’s biggest horseracing prizes and is It is considered the most prominent of the 5 horseracing ‘Classics’ – the other races being the 2000 Guineas (Newmarket), the 1000 Guineas (Newmarket), Oaks (Epsom) and the St. Leger (Doncaster).

The 2017 Epsom Derby will be remembered for one of the biggest shock winners of recent years. When the 40-1 shot Wings Of Eagles won.
